Overview

The Canon EOS 80D DSLR 18-55mm Lens Camera features an impressive 45-point all cross-type AF system1 that provides high-speed, highly precise AF in virtually any kind of light. To help ensure photographers don’t miss their shot, an Intelligent Viewfinder with approximately 100% coverage provides a clear view and comprehensive image data. Improvements like a powerful 24.2 Megapixel (APS-C) CMOS sensor and Dual Pixel CMOS AF for Live View shooting enhance performance across the board. Complementing the EOS 80D’s advanced operation are built-in wireless connectivity and Full HD 60p movies that can be saved as MP4s for easy sharing.

EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM Lens

Included with the 80D is the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens, which provides a 28.8-88mm equivalent focal length range that covers a variety of perspectives from wide-angle to portrait-length. Its design integrates an STM focusing mechanism that provides near-silent focusing abilities with smooth and precise control. Additionally, the Optical Image Stabilizer system helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to four shutter speed steps in order to benefit working in low-light conditions and with greater zoom magnifications. One aspherical lens element is also incorporated into the lens construction to help reduce chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range and an optimized lens coating has been applied, too, in order to lessen lens flare and ghosting for higher contrast, clearer imagery.

45-point AF System

The EOS 80D camera has a wide-area, 45-point, all cross-type AF system. Excellent in dim light, it has improved low luminance performance to EV -3 and is compatible with most EF lenses (lenses with maximum apertures of f/8 or higher, and some lenses with extenders attached may operate at a maximum of 27 points). It also features 4 AF area selection modes, including user-selectable Single-point AF, Zone AF, Large Zone AF and 45-point AF auto selection.

Intelligent Viewfinder

The Canon EOS 80D DSLR camera’s Intelligent Viewfinder provides a bright and comprehensive view. Approximately 100% coverage means there’s virtually no guesswork when composing, and with all settings available at a glance, the Intelligent Viewfinder helps photographers keep their eye on their subject to capture the image at the right instant. The Intelligent Viewfinder displays a variety of information including AF points, AF mode and a grid display, all of which can be hidden for manual focus or subject observation.

Built-In Wi-Fi with NFC

Both photos and movies can be wirelessly shared to Smartphones or Tablets, using the Canon Camera Connect app, for instant online sharing or backed up to the Canon Connect Station CS100 via built-in Wi-Fi with NFC connectivity. Remote shooting from a linked mobile device is also available, allowing you to wirelessly configure exposure settings or release the shutter.

Vari-angle Touchscreen LCD

A Vari-angle Touchscreen 3.0-inch Clear View LCD Monitor II helps capture videos and stills at a variety of angles, with up to 270° of vertical rotation and up to 175° of horizontal rotation. It delivers intuitive touch panel operation, easy setting access and Touch AF. Displaying fine detail (at approximately 1.04 million dots), this screen can be ideal for composing and reviewing images. Smudge-resistant coating helps minimize fingerprints and maintain a clear image display, even in bright light.
